Parkinson’s: a new theme for the Centre

A seventh theme has been added to the ever expanding Centre. The Parkinson’s theme will be led by Professor Monty Silverdale.

Professor Silverdale and his colleagues were recently awarded the Royal Society of Chemistry prize for their pioneering NoseToDiagnose work, which has demonstrated the ability to identify Parkinson’s disease based on compounds found on the surface of skin.

The findings offer hope that a pioneering new test could be developed to diagnose the degenerative condition through a simple painless skin swab.
