Climbing Snowdon for brain tumour research
On 26 May, Kandeel Batool, an Oncology Research Nurse at Northern Care Alliance NHS Foundation Trust, will be climbing Mount Snowdon to raise funds for the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, supporting the brain tumour research theme.
Kandeel works in our brain tumour theme at Salford Royal Hospital supporting clinical trials for people living with brain tumours, including glioblastoma, one of the most aggressive and devastating cancers. Through her work, she sees every day how urgently better treatments are needed, and how vital research is for patients and their families.
She says her climb is for her patients, past and present and symbolises resilience, hope and determination, and reflects the strength she sees in patients every day.

“Everyday I work with people facing brain tumours, including glioblastoma, and I see first-hand how much better treatments are needed. Climbing Snowdon is my way of using my health to give something back and to support research that helps give patients the most precious gift of more time.”
Funds raised will support vital research at the Geoffrey Jefferson Brain Research Centre, helping to improve understanding of brain tumours and move closer to more effective treatments and, ultimately, a cure.
“My patients inspire me every single day. The strength and determination they show in the face of such difficult challenges is extraordinary. Until we find a cure, we will keep researching, keep pushing forward, and keep fighting alongside every one of them.”
Donations will directly support our brain tumour research and make a real difference for patients and their families: Kandeel Batool is fundraising for Northcare Charity
