Researchers gather for VIDA DTC conference
The Alzheimer’s Society Vascular and Immune Contributors to Dementia (VIDA) Doctoral Training Centre (DTC) recently held a conference bringing together students, supervisors and researchers from across the programme.
We were delighted that colleagues from the Alzheimer’s Society were able to attend on the day, alongside the VIDA DTC Directors – Stuart Allan, Anna Williams, Fatemeh Geranmayeh and Atticus Hainsworth – who helped shape the event and guided the discussions.
The conference brought together the first two cohorts of VIDA students and their supervisors, representing the collaboration between the University of Manchester, the University of Edinburgh, St George’s University of London and Imperial College London.
Researchers shared updates on their work exploring how changes in blood vessels and the immune system contribute to the causes of dementia. Their aim is to enable earlier diagnosis and support the development of new treatments for people affected by the condition.
